Donna Tartt’s astonishing writing style

In The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, Theo is the main character who tells his story using first-person point of view (“I”), beginning when he is 13 years old and ending when he has reached adulthood. There are pages and pages of details that are unnecessary. However, the details are what makes the novel work so well. scenes are described with lots of detail. But most of The Goldfinch is told in a more casual, natural voice, with irreverent side thoughts, and humorous thinking.

conflicts in the art world

In The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, the conflict of the story is ‘character vs self’. Most of the conflict in the novel surrounds Theo’s theft of The Goldfinch after the death of his mother in the bombing of the Metropolitan Museum of ArtTheo had to overcome the grief that was laid upon him since his mother’s death, as well as figure out what to do with the old and priceless painting that he had unwillingly claimed ownership of. atmosphere, ambience and anxiety

Donna Tartt uses setting to create more abstract ideas-beyond the literal meaning. She uses the setting to represent Theo’s feelings and the tone of the story. For example, on pages 69-70 when Theo is at the apartment waiting for his mom to come home after the bombing. Theo doesn’t know if his mom is dead or alive and is nervous because of it. Tartt uses the ambiance of the living room to represent Theos feelings and the atmosphere around him to create tone.

reader meet novel, novel meet reader

I am reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. The book is based on a true story about Dutch painter Carel Fabritius, who in the mid-1650s, died during an explosion that killed many in the town and destroyed all but about 12 of his paintings (including The goldfinch survived). In comparison to the book where Theo was in a bombing and stole the goldfinch.

I am currently in grade 10 So far high school hasn’t lived up to the hype. the classes I got this year aren’t that exciting but the teachers make up for it.
